Grass Seed Mixtures to enhance the environment. These mixtures comply according to the product codes and are suitable for Entry Level Stewardship (ELS). ELS1 Buffer Strip & Beetle Bank

Managed as low intensity grassland and can be used to create new habitats. Cocksfoot is included as a clump forming specie creating areas for birds and other mammals to nestle down for cover and nesting purposes

ELS2 Buffer Strip & Field Corner

Managed as low intensity grassland, offers particular benefit to wildlife. Contains fine-leaved grasses allowing wild flowers to establish creating a habitat for insects and other small mammals.

ELS3 Buffer Strip - 10m

Managed as low intensity grassland, similar to ELS2, but includes several wild flowers as advised by Natural England. Would be cut August/Sept to allow wild flowers to disperse seed back into the sward. May require cutting March/April also.

The addition of a grass/legume mixture undersown in the cereal crop will reduce the need for agrochemical inputs; increase the diversity of habitat provided in the field and benefit farm wildlife.

ELS5 Wild Bird Seed Mixture

This option will provide important food resources for farmland birds, especially in winter and early spring. The aim is to maximise the production of small seeds suitable as bird food in either annual or annual/biennial mixtures. This option is a rotational option and can be moved around the farm.

ELS6 Nectar Flower Mixture-premium

Sowing an area of flowering plants into the farmed landscape will boost the availability of essential food sources for a range of nectar-feeding insects, including butterflies and bumblebees.This premium mixture has the addition of Musk Mallow and Common Knapweed wild flower species.

- 80% grass species that are slow growing with attractive seed heads - meadow fescue, creeping red fescue, cocksfoot, timothy, tall fescue, smooth stalked meadow grass

Wildflower Meadow & Field Margin
- BSWF10 is a lower priced mixture to sow large areas with wildflowers or use it in conjunction with one of our other wildflower meadow mixtures
- Wild grasses, legumes and wildflowers form the basis for of this environmentally enhancing mixture, providing a rich habit for insects, birds and small mammals.
- Contains 8 meadow grass species along with, Black knapweed, Birdsfoot trefoil, Self heal, Ladys bedstraw, Black medic, Red clover, Ox-eye daisy, Yarrow and Sainfoin
- Sowing rate = 40-50kg per hectare. Packsize = 10kg and 20kg.
Species Rich Wild Grass Mixture
- Contains sheep's fescue, timothy, crested dogstail, meadow fescue, rough-stalked meadow grass, smooth-stalked meadow grass, creeping red fescue, bentgrass, cocksfoot, yorkshire fog, sweet vernal grass and wavy hair grass
- Suitable for field margins and buffer strips
- A species rich blend suitable for most soil types
- A good companion mixture for adding wildflower seeds
- Provides a food source for many insects and butterflies
