CSS1 Flower Rich Margin & Plots AB8

Use this mixture for Flower-rich Margins and Plots (AB8) to provide:

 

  • Abundant supply of pollen and nectar-rich flowers throughout the summer
  • Pollinating and beneficial insects including bumblebees, solitary bees, butterflies and hoverflies using these flowers
  • Farmland birds such as yellowhammer foraging within or on the edges of the margins and plots 
  • Annual production of flowers for the length of the agreement.
  • Suitable for Countryside Stewardship (CSS): AB8 GS8 GS14 SW1 SW2 SW3 SW4 SW7 SW8 WT1 WT2 

Contains: 40% Strong creeping red fescue, 20% Hard fescue, 10% Smooth-stalked meadow grass, 25% Chewing's fescue, 1% Bird's foot trefoil, 0.25% Selfheal, 0.5% Ox-Eye daisy, 2% Yarrow, 0.5% Common knapweed, 0.25% Wild carrot, 0.5% Wild red clover.

CSS3 Wildflower Meadow, also suitable for AB8

Use this mixture for Wildflower Meadows, also suitable for AB8 :

  • Provides a rich habitat for butterflies, moths, insects, birds and small mammals
  • An extended number of species of grasses, legumes and wildflowers
  • Can be sown on its own or in conjunction with our other wildflower mixtures
  • Suitable for Countryside Stewardship AB8 GS8 GS14 SW1 SW2 SW3 SW4 SW7 SW8 WT1 WT2
  • Contains: 10% Hard fescue, 10% Slender Creeping red fescue, 15% Timothy, 10% Chewing's fescue, 20% Strong Creeping red fescue, 6% Smooth-stalked meadow grass, 4% Crested dog's tail, 2% Tall oatgrass, 2% Meadow foxtail, 10% Red clover, 2% Alsike clover, 2% Ribwort plantain, 2% Bird's foot trefoil, 1% Self Heal, 1% Ox-eye daisy, 1% Lady's bedstraw, 1% Common Knapweed, 1% Wild carrot.

BS Low Maintenance Grass Seed

BS Low Maintenance (previously know as Grow Slow) contains slower growing grasses for less mowing requirement.

 

  • Tolerant of dry, infertile conditions
  • Can be mown to 20mm or twice per year to approximately 100mm
  • Suitable for areas in sun or shade. Can be mixed with wildflower seed
  • Contains: 30% chewings fescue, 55% strong creeping red fescue, 5% slender creeping red fescue, 7% hard fescue and 3% crested dogstail
  • Sow at 35 grams per sq/m - 20kg covers 570sqm

CSS8 Buffer Strip and Beetle Bank AB3 with cocksfoot

Use this option for Beetle Banks AB3 to benefit the environment:

·provides nesting and foraging habitats for, insects, bumblebees, small mammals and   some farmland birds.

·a raised grass bank with dense tussocky cover providing warm and dry areas for     invertebrates and farmland birds

·invertebrates such as bumblebees and some farmland birds foraging and nesting on   the bank during the spring and summer

·beneficial insects which feed on crop pests

  • Suitable for Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS): AB3 SW1 SW2 SW3 SW4 SW7 SW8 WT1 WT2
  • Contains: 25% Timothy, 10% Hard fescue, 5% Cocksfoot, 20% Tall fescue, 40% Strong Creeping red fescue

CSS9 Beetle Bank AB3 without cocksfoot

Use this option for Beetle Banks AB3 to benefit the environment:
