For best results, seed and granular fertiliser should be applied with a spreader, and liquid fertiliser applied with a specialist sprayer.
Why no grass seed? Winter isn't the ideal time for sowing grass seed due to the wet and cold temperatures. Preference is to overseed in autumn or spring, however, if overseeding is a necessity in the winter, look towards our Winter Green Grass Seed which can germinate in temperatures as low as 5 degrees!
STEP 1 - GRANULAR FERTILISER
- Apply the granular Autumn & Winter over the whole area
- Always wear gloves and we recommend using a spreader for consistent coverage
- Brush off hard surfaces immediately to avoid discolouration (sweep away with a dry brush) and avoid plants (wash away the granules)
- Applying it first sets up the lawn for the colder months
STEP 2 - SEAWEED
- 2-3 weeks after the granular Autumn & Winter, dilute the Liquid Seaweed as per the instructions and apply over the whole area
- For best results, apply to damp soil, or when rainfall is imminent
- This will help support root health and stress tolerance heading into winter
STEP 3 - VITALITY FEED
- 3-4 weeks after applying the Liquid Seaweed, dilute the Vitality Liquid Lawn Feed as per the instructions and apply over the whole area
- For best results, apply when the soil is moist but rainfall is not imminent.
- This gives the lawn another nutrient boost without overloading it all at once
STEP 4 - WINTER DEFENDER
- 4-6 weeks after applying the liquid Vitality, dilute the Defender Liquid Lawn Feed as per the instructions and apply over the whole area
- For best results, apply when the soil is moist but rainfall is not imminent
- This helps strengthen the lawn against winter stress and disease pressure
STEP 5 - LIQUID IRON
- After a further 4-6 weeks, dilute the Liquid Iron as per the instructions and apply over the whole area
- Iron is often used during autumn and winter to green up the grass and harden the turf without forcing excessive growth
