Parsnip, Wild (Pastinaca sativa) Seeds

  • Member of the Carrot family.
  • Leaves pinnate, with 2-7 pairs of irregularly toothed lobes. Petals yellow, 0.5mm long and 1mm broad.
  • Common on chalk soils

    Plantain, Ribwort (Plantago lanceolata) Seeds

  • Grass-like perennial with spikes of blackish-brown flowers with yellow anthers. Common meadow component.

  • Requires: Prefers a sunny position.

    Poppy, Common (Papaver rhoeas) Seeds

  • Annual. The red poppy that is seen in fields everywhere.One of our most popular wildflowers. Synonymous with the 1914-18 Great War. Ideally requires a frost or chilling to help germination.

    Quaking-grass, Common (Briza media) Seeds

  • Perennial. Known in the Midlands as 'Tommy tottles'.
  • A decorative grass with green/purplish spikelets which shake in the breeze.
  • Flowers: June to August.
  • Requires: Sun.
  • Height: 22-45cm.
  • Approx. 2000 seeds per gramme.

    Ragged Robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi) Seeds

  • A lovely perennial with dainty pink flowers with 'ragged' petals.
  • Looks terrific in a wetland meadow with meadow buttercup.

  • Perennial. A good woodland subject with lovely crinkly, light green leaves and greenish-yellow flowers with prominent maroon stamens.

    Sainfoin (Onobrychis vicifolia) Seeds

  • Perennial. A bushy meadow plant with cone-shaped spikes Aromatic perennial with masses dark purple buds turning to paler flowers. A good butterfly plant.

  • Requires: Sun and well-drained soil.
  • Height: 40 cm.
  • Approx: 70 seeds per gramme

    Scabious, Devil's-bit (Succisa pratensis) Seeds

  • Perennial. Soft hairy stem, flowering heads about 2cms across, compact and violet-blue.
  • Flowers: June - September.
  • Requires: Poor grassland, fenland, meadows, damp, acid-calcareous soils.
  • Height: 50-80cm.
  • Approx 600 seeds per gramme. 

    Scabious, Field (Knautia arvensis) Seeds

  • Perennial. Blue-lilac 'pincushion' flowers in summer. Looks attractive with Ox-eye Daisies.
  • A nectar plant for butterflies and bees.
  • Flowers: July - September.
  • Requires: Sun and well-drained soil.
  • Height: 30-90cm
  • Approx. 130 seeds per gramme.

    Scabious, Small (Scabiosa columbaria) Seeds

    • Perennial. A smaller version to Field Scabious, slightly hairy leaves.
    • Flowers: July - August.
    • Requires: Dry chalky grassland, banks.
    • Height: 60 - 70 cms

    Sedge, Pendulous (Carex pendula) Seeds

  • Perennial. Tussock & rhizome forming plant, leaves to 20mm wide, drooping.

  • A perennial with purple-violet flower, self-seeds readily.

    • Perennial. Leaves narrow, pointed and finely toothed.

    Soapwort (Saponaria officinalis) Seeds

  • Perennial. Flowers weakly-scented and clustered in the upper leaves, can be pale pink or white.

  • Requires: Damp-moist soils, Found along footpaths, waste ground, hedges and river banks.
