Liquid Fertiliser Products Breakdown
Boston seeds KissMyGrass liquid fertilizer range includes a mix of general feeds, seasonal blends, and specialist treatments which are all designed to give you more control over how and when your lawn is fed.
General & Year Round Lawn Feeds
Year Round Rapid Green is a quick-acting liquid lawn fertiliser with a high nitrogen content. It’s ideal when you need a fast green-up or want the lawn to bounce back after a cut. You’ll usually see a difference in colour within a few days, especially in spring and early summer when growth is active.
Seasonal Boosters
Spring & Summer Boost is a reliable seasonal lawn fertiliser for use during the main growing months. Not only is it high in nitrogen and potassium, but it will also help support top growth while encouraging strong root development. On the other hand, our Autumn & Winter Vitality fertiliser takes a more balanced approach and helps to build resilience in cooler months without pushing soft green growth that won’t last.
Specialist Treatments
For lawns that need extra support, our fertiliser range includes a number of specialist options. Our Seaweed Liquid Fertiliser helps improve disease resistance and supports soil biology over time while the Moss Attack treatment combines feed and moss control in one pass, making it a good option after scarifying or during damp spells when moss tends to return. There’s also a Winter Defender option which is designed to strengthen the grass as we move into the colder weather and will actively help reduce the risk of overall winter stress.
Each feed in our range is designed to be diluted and applied with a watering can or sprayer. The right choice depends on the time of year and what your lawn actually needs and not just what the calendar says.
Benefits of Liquid Fertiliser
There are a few key reasons people choose liquid fertiliser over granular feeds, and it mostly comes down to speed and control. Because it’s absorbed through the leaves as well as the roots, the grass responds much quicker and you’ll often notice a difference in colour within a few days, especially in spring and early summer.
It’s also easier to apply accurately. Whether you’re treating the whole lawn or just working on thinner patches, liquid lawn feed can be spread evenly with a watering can or sprayer which makes it particularly useful if you're working in smaller spaces or trying to avoid overfeeding around paths, beds, or edges.
Another benefit is timing. Liquid grass feed works well during cooler spells when the soil isn’t quite warm enough for granular fertilisers to break down. You can also use it after scarifying, during dry weather, or if the lawn’s showing signs of stress.
Some people also choose to use Liquid Feed alongside traditional granular feeds, while others rely on it as a standalone option. What works best for you will depend on how closely you manage your lawn and what sort of results you’re after.
How to Apply & Best Practices
Most liquid fertilisers need to be mixed with water and applied using a watering can, knapsack sprayer, or handheld applicator. First, give the bottle a good shake, then follow the dilution rates on the label. As a general guide, it’s often around 100ml of fertiliser per 5 litres of water but always check the specific product for individual instructions.
It’s best to apply liquid feed on a dry day with no rain forecast for at least a few hours. Mow the lawn beforehand if needed, then leave it for a day or two after feeding to give the product time to work. Some formulas are foliar feeds only and don’t need watering, while others might. Again, it depends on the product, so don’t skip the label.
During the growing season, you can usually reapply every 4 to 6 weeks. That said, more isn’t always better, and overfeeding can do more harm than good, especially with high-nitrogen mixes. Store any leftover feed somewhere dry and frost-free and give the bottle a good shake before each future use.
If you’re using a moss control or seaweed-based product, the application method is much the same but just be mindful of any extra guidance depending on the time of year or lawn condition.

Liquid Lawn Fertiliser FAQs
What is liquid lawn fertiliser?
Liquid fertiliser is applied by a watering can or sprayer and quickly delivers nutrients straight to the leaf and root zone. Unlike granular feeds, which need time to break down, liquids are taken up almost immediately which is useful when you need a quick response or when the soil is too cold for slower-release options to work properly.
Liquid fertilizers are often used to support recovery after stress or mowing, to give the lawn a boost before a change in weather, or to green up areas that have turned pale or thin. Most liquid lawn fertilisers are lower in nitrogen than heavy-duty granules which provides a gentle and more controlled application that’s less likely to scorch the grass.
With a liquid fertilizer, you can treat the whole lawn or focus on specific patches, and it’s easy to apply evenly on small or detailed areas where granular feeds might clump or overdo it. Whether you’re managing regular growth or reacting to a problem, liquid grass feed gives you more control and faster results than the more traditional granular options.
How to apply liquid lawn fertiliser?
Always follow the instructions on the back of the liquid lawn fertiliser bottle. Once mixed to the correct specification, we recommend using a watering can, with the sprinkler attachment, to evenly distribute this over your lawn. Make sure to choose a dry day with no rain in the forecast to allow the liquid fertiliser to dry and be absorbed by the grass.
How long does it take for liquid lawn fertiliser to work?
Due to the quick absorption of liquid lawn fertiliser, you should begin to see noticeable differences to your lawn within just a few days.
Can I use liquid fertiliser all year round?
Yes, but you’ll want to switch formulas depending on the season. Use high-nitrogen feeds in spring and summer and move to a winter blend in the colder months.
Is liquid fertiliser safe for pets and children?
Once the lawn is dry, it’s generally safe. As a precaution, keep pets and children off the grass until the surface has fully dried.
Can I combine liquid fertiliser with moss killer or weed treatments?
Space applications out if you’re using separate products or go for a combined treatment like Moss Attack if you want to tackle both in one go.
What’s the difference between seaweed and standard liquid feeds?
Seaweed feeds support soil health and root strength rather than just top growth. They’re ideal for improving long-term resilience or helping the lawn recover after stress.
