SFI CIPM3 / IPM3 - Companion Crops

Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) CIPM3 (2024) and IPM3 (2023), Companion Crops, require a companion crop to be established, either to act as a trap crop for pests, suppress weeds, improve soil condition, manage nutrient efficiency or provide habitat for natural crop pest predators. CIPM3 and IPM3 are static or rotational actions, and can therefore be carried out on the same area of land each year, or can be moved around the farm. The companion crop does not have to be present for the full growing period of the cash crop, as long as it is managed in a way that can reasonably be expected to achieve the action’s aim and its intended purpose.
